Asceticism in Motion: Forms and Transfer of Habitualized Knowledge in Antiquity and Late Antiquity

The project explores the tension between corporeal habitualised knowledge as it was taught and practised in the ascetic traditions of Antiquity and Late Antiquity and the verbalization and transmission of that very same, fundamentally non-linguistic knowledge. Hence, processes of the production and transmission of philosophical and religious knowledge in the contexts of pagan Antiquity and early Christianity will be reconstructed.
