Project A02

Ancient Egyptian Philology

The project investigates transfer of knowledge in ancient Egyptian mortuary literature from around 2000 BCE. By analysing texts that were used by specific groups of individuals across different regions of Egypt, including rulers (kings and nomarchs), their families and members of their extended communities, during a period of profound social change, the project aims to investigate the processes of textual production from a multi-causal and multidirectional perspective that takes into account, amongst other things, social status, gender and scribal practices.

A list of publications and events organized by the project can be accessed on the German CRC 980 website.
